The term workaholic describing someone who is always working. However, a workaholic has an addiction to work, giving them a high. Moreover, work becoming more important than anything else in their life.

In contrast, a person who is just working hard does so in order to be successful.As well as improving the quality of their life .Including  providing for their family. Unfortunately, there is a fine line between working hard and being a workaholic.

A workaholic is completely absorbed by work.Mostly they never turn off or taking time out. Workaholics denying they have a problem. Many suffering health problems which are often ignored. This is because they don’t want anything to get in the way of their work. Unfortunately leading to chronic conditions including stress and burnout.

Effect on the Family

The family of the workaholic also suffers.  And their needs are often ignored. This resulting in rejection issues and poor self esteem in children.   Children finding it difficult with bonding with a parent who is a workaholic .Because they so rarely spend quality time together. Many workaholics, finding it difficult to sustain relationships. As work consumes their entire life.

Long term Effects

In truth what started as a healthy approach to working easily turning into a problem. Moreover, causing serious health problems. And the potential of losing your family. Or causing the end of your relationship. Like any addiction, you may be finding it difficult to admit that you have a problem.And even harder to ask for help.

The good news

In conclusion, you can recover from being a workaholic. As well as bringing balance into your life. Admitting to yourself that you are a workaholic is the first step. Also consider seeking help .
